Trial Terms
These Trial Terms apply to your free trial of AXIS. They supplement
the Terms of Service, the [Acceptable Use
Policy](./ACCEPTABLE_USE.md), and the Privacy Policy.
**Where these Trial Terms differ from the ToS, the ToS controls except
on the specific points listed below.**

1. The trial offer
- Duration: 7 calendar days from account activation.
- Price: zero.
- Credit card required: no.
- Eligibility: one trial per legal entity. Repeat trials by the
same entity (under different email addresses or domains) are not
permitted and may be cancelled without notice.
2. What's included
During the trial, you receive full access to the AXIS tier(s)
that we mark as "trial-eligible" at signup. This may change over
time. The exact tier and features in effect at the time you sign
up are recorded in your account metadata and apply for the duration
of your trial.
3. What you give up
By starting a trial you agree that **all of the disclaimers and
limitations in the Terms of Service apply
to the trial period as well as paid usage**, including but not limited
to:
- §7 (AXIS-generated content + AI disclaimer)
- §11 (Liability — AS-IS, hard cap, excluded damages)
- §11A (No professional advice)
- §11B (Class-action waiver)
- §11C (Time-bar)
- §12 (Indemnity)
For the avoidance of doubt: **the liability cap during the trial is
zero** plus, where applicable, any non-waivable statutory minimum.
This is consistent with the ToS §11.2 cap of "subscription fees paid
in the preceding 3 months" — during a trial those fees are zero.
4. Conversion to paid
- At day 5, AXIS will send you a reminder email noting the
pending trial expiry.
- At day 7, your trial expires automatically. We do not
auto-charge your card. We do not have your card.
- To continue using AXIS, you must affirmatively select a paid
tier and complete payment via Polar (or our then-current billing
provider).
- If you do not convert, your account is moved to
subscription_status = expired. Your data is preserved for **30
additional days** in case you change your mind, then archived for
a further 6 months, then deleted (subject to ToS §10 and
Privacy Policy retention rules).
5. Reactivation
If you reactivate within the 6-month archive window, your data is
restored. After 6 months, reactivation creates a fresh account with
no historical data.
6. We may modify the trial
We may at any time:
- Reduce or extend the trial duration (existing trials honour
the duration in effect when they started);
- Change the feature set included in the trial (existing trials
honour what was advertised at signup);
- Cancel a specific trial immediately if we reasonably suspect
abuse, fraud, or violation of the AUP — without refund or
compensation.
7. No service-credit during trial
The §9 ToS service-credit remedy does not apply to trial accounts
(there is nothing to credit). The 99.5% uptime target is a target,
not a warranty, during trial.
8. Marketing during trial
By starting a trial you agree to receive product, billing, and
account communications from us during the trial and after expiry.
You can opt out of marketing communications at any time using the
unsubscribe link in any email; you cannot opt out of transactional
account communications (billing reminders, security notices, ToS
updates) for as long as your account exists.
9. Carve-outs honoured
Nothing in these Trial Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully
be limited (per ToS §11.5).
